Moving from Rochester NY to Charlotte NC?

CANâT AFFORD TO FAIL

I currently live between Rochester and Syracuse NY just South of Lake Ontario. I live in the house I grew up in. I left only to serve in the Marine Corps and was stationed in CA & Hawaii. I enjoy driving the back roads to and from the established surrounding towns observing property, farms and the overall scenery. I have a wife and (3) boy ages 13, 12 & 10. On what seems to be very little income we enjoy boating in our 1976, 21' Penn Yan, tent camping, healthy eating, country living, Levis jeans and good shoes. We may go into the city as a family or just my wife and I, to shop and eat once every couple of months. I have enjoyed a Jewish Community Center gym membership which provided spa amenities after a day of work, prior to heading home to the country. The boys play baseball, basketball, soccer and the Xbox all day, if they had it their way. They're going to need jobs soon. We will soon need to replace our 1999 Chevy P/U and 2006 Ford Focus. My home and rental properties are in need of upgrades (including many others in upstate NY rural communities) which I cannot afford or find anyone to pay the rent consistently due to the demographics.

I have commuted to Rochester NY (45-60 min.'s) for 30 yrs. to work in the machining trades as a Mfg. Eng., a CNC Programmer, a CNC Machinist and a Toolmaker. In addition, I have been working on my BS at the Rochester Institute of Technology and was a full-time student from 2009 to 2011 at a less expensive community college. I am currently employed and my base salary has not changed since the late 1980's. My wife has re-entered the workforce after being unemployed for a year. She is building circuit boards for less money at the same company she worked at 13 yrs. ago and is a temporary employee, to boot.

I have considered moving and initially began seeking opportunities in the Pacific North West only to be humiliated by engineering and hiring managers who have questioned my abilities. I felt as though they wanted a specialist at a specific task rather that someone who was a competent, career orientated individual who isnât easily overwhelmed. After a few months, with hesitation due to the many comments I've heard and read, I began to focus on NC, as many NY'ers seem to have done.

It's been a couple of months now that I have been actively applying to positions in NC. The employment agencies are thrilled with my experience and are eager to send off my resume to the hiring managers. After they submit it, I hear nothing in return from either of them.

Recently a NE recruiting agency had contacted me regarding a position for a prominent company in NC which has exhausted their efforts in recruiting (60) local people. They are now looking in the North East for experienced candidates. I may be offered a position soon and will be required to begin work on June 1st, 2013. The position is about 1/2 hr. SE of Charlotte NC and would pay about 25% more or about what I make by working 55 hrs./wk if and when the OT is offered. I would be forfeiting the cash flow which my rentals create and the income tax return each year.

I'm not sure it's worth the risk.

Answer
It might be worth taking. It is a lovely area down there. You won't deal with much snow. Real estate and cost of living are a lot less. Most people are very friendly too. Take a ride there and do a little exploring.

i hate my dad, but i have to move with him, how can i tolerate being around him? (long please read)?

Lexi

I don't want anything to do with my dad! I just hate him. I get sooo pissed just being in the presence of him. He's moving with his new wife soon and i have to come live with them. I don't know how im gonna handle this bs.
Heres the full story..
Ive been pretty stressed out in my life currently.
When i was 12, i was diagnosed with social anxiety and depression. My parents were the reason cause of my depression. Since my parents split in 2006, i tried to have a relationship with my mom. But nothing worked, she didn't wanna listen. I realized years later that she didn't care from the start. I didn't know at the time i was depressed inside until my dad took me to see a therapist. He signed me up for therapy cause i used to cut myself. I did it cause i was tired of my feelings being ignored by mom, and at the time my dad didn't spend much time with me anymore. I realize that he was also very depressed about the split. He would tell me his problems and talk badly about my mom. They had partial custody of me. Id see her every other week. My dad ended up getting full custody of me cause she was abusive physically and verbally. My mom didn't have any maternal instincts since i was a kid. My dad was basically like a mom and dad cause he brought me clothes and spent time with me. I still loved my mom though.
Since ive been living here with my dad the last couple of years our relationship has gotten worse. It's like we don't even have one anymore.
I remember everything just started going downhill by the time i got into high school (2011). My dad constantly would insult me, talk about me behind my back badly to his friends, wouldn't listen to my feelings and he didn't and still doesn't wanna fix our relationship.
We went to family therapy last year and he couldn't control his temper and the sessions got us nowhere. We would come home and still argue and he hates every therapist ive seen. Before we attended the sessions together he made fun of me for going there. So i stopped going :( it just hurt soo much when he says hurtful things to me.
He's been dating a woman for about 6 months and there getting married next week. He only cares for his fiance. He treats her better than ive been treated by him since i was a kid, it hurts. I feel like ive did everything i could to fix our relationship. I've talked to him millions of times, went to therapy, asked family for advise and nothing works. He's so stubborn and think everyone has a problem.
He's not there for me financially, or emotionally. I've had to get a job late last year cause he always went out to spend his money on his fiance and id have nothing to eat. Ive pretty much been on my own these last 3 years and he obviously didn't wanna raise me anymore. Hes going around saying im trying to ruin his life all cause i expressed to him my pain about this ****. I don't feel comfortable moving in with him and his fiance. They don't want me around. I don't know any other family members and i don't have any close friends to move in with.
My dad told me i can stay at our house if i can pay him rent so i agreed to it. Now he f****** says a couple days ago that he changed his mind and i have to come and live with him and his wife. My mind just went insane cause my dad and i have been debating on this for about a month and i thought he understands my pain here. I don't take this situation lightly. I've emotionally invested myself in both of my parents to get treated like crap and im done with it. We had the argument about the living arrangement a couple days ago and i just got real emotional and started crying and kept thinking thoughts of suicide. I felt like i was being stabbed in my heart and thought i want to stab him but i thought it would be better if i just killed myself. I've called the suicide hot line cause i felt like i was thinking too drastically. My mind had racing thoughts and ive been very anxious. I told my dad about myself having thoughts of suicide and he told me he won't feel guilty if i die, and he didn't do anything to make me fell this way. I think him saying that just set me off. I felt like i was going insane. The only thing that calmed me down is reading my journal and listening to music. When i think about these problems i get very anxious so i just try to keep my mind off of them. But i just can't believe my dad doesn't understand why i don't wanna live with him. I thought about going to a foster home but im gonna be 17 in 4 months and i heard its hard for teens to find a home being my age. Im gonna have to move with him but i have feelings of resentment and hate for him. I just feel like im gonna explode being around him. How can i tolerate him?

Answer
I also had anxiety around that age. When the house got stressful, I pitched a tent and camped outdoors for days on end- no one bothered me. Do you live in a state where it's still warm? or have a decent yard to that in?

How to clean a camping tent that smells like mildew?

family camping tents on ... Star Family Tent Columbia Cougar Flats II Family Cabin Dome Tent

Stella

I haven't used my camping tent for quite a long time and it now smells like mildew. How to get rid of this bad awful smell?

Answer
First, you need get a tote and fill it with clean water then add pine-sol in it. After that, you can place the tent, rain fly, tent poles, tent bag, stakes and stake bag in to the water, and leave them soak in the pine-sol solution for an hour or so. One hour is enough for the camping tent to absorb the aroma of the pine-sol solution, and then you will get a fresh smelling tent.

After the tent has soaked in the pine-sol solution for one hour, now you should take it out of the access water and reassemble the tent in your yard. Use water hose to pray the tent off and you should pay particular attention to the fabric on the bottom. Be sure it is thoroughly rinsed.

The last step is to dry the camping tent. You should let the tent air dry both inside and outside. Itâs important to wait until the tent and all the contents are fully dry before you pack it back up. Otherwise, the mildew will return. If you have a large family tent or multi-room tent, then you should wait patiently. If the weather is not good and you cannot dry the tent outside, you should place the tent in your garage or even inside your home or basement to let it dry. One thing you need to keep in mind is never dry your camping tent in a dryer because this could reduce the lifetime of the tent.

Where is the best campground for TENT camping in Salida Colorado?

Shoshanna

Taking a family camping trip with a tent to Salida CO. We would like to do some fishing, hiking and possibly some horseback riding.

Answer
Hecla Junction is a great area to camp near Salida. It is off the main roads and set up against the Arkansas River. The fishing there is great and so is the scenery. It is managed by Colorado State Parks, so there is a fee to stay. The tent pads are large and level. There are also pit toilets which are nice when camping with kids and ladies. If your looking for a whitewater rafting adventure check out the Bighorn Sheep Canyon section of river just downstream of Salida by an hour. It is much more exciting and far less crowded than Browns. It is also great for kids! Have Fun!

could you guys give me an explanation of the geographic significance of the movie. like: Why was it set in Africa? What does the movie show you about Africa's physical or political geography?

and could you also tell me the plot of the movie?

that kind of stuff
and describe your favorite part in the movie

Answer
The movie was based on a true story that is why it is set in Africa
Ten years ago some of the worst atrocities in the history of mankind took place in the country of Rwanda--and in an era of high-speed communication and round the clock news, the events went almost unnoticed by the rest of the world. In only three months, one million people were brutally murdered. In the face of these unspeakable actions, inspired by his love for his family, an ordinary man summons extraordinary courage to save the lives of over a thousand helpless refugees, by granting them shelter in the hotel he manages. Written by Sujit R. Varma

Tensions between the Hutu and Tutsi peoples lead to a civil war, in a country where corruption and bribes are routine. Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle), the manager of Sabena Hôtel des Mille Collines, is Hutu but his wife, Tatiana (Sophie Okonedo), is Tutsi. His marriage is a source of friction with Hutu extremists, most prominently George Rutaganda, a friendly supplier to the hotel who also is the local leader of Interahamwe, a brutal anti-Tutsi militia.

As the political situation in the country deteriorates, Paul and his family observe neighbors being dragged from their homes and openly beaten in the streets. Paul curries favor with people of influence, bribing them with money and alcohol, seeking to maintain sufficient influence to keep his family safe. When civil war erupts and a Rwandan Army officer threatens Paul and his neighbors, Paul barely negotiates their safety, and brings everyone to the hotel. More refugees come to the hotel from the overburdened United Nations camp, the Red Cross, and orphanages. Paul must divert the Hutu soldiers, care for the refugees, be a source of strength to his family, and maintain the appearance of a functioning high-class hotel, as the situation becomes more and more violent, with mobs in the streets just outside the gates.

The UN Peacekeeping forces, led by Colonel Oliver (Nick Nolte), are unable to take assertive action against the Interhamwe since they are forbidden to intervene in the genocide. The foreign nationals are evacuated, but the Rwandans are left behind. When the UN forces attempt to evacuate a group of refugees, including Paul's family, they are ambushed and must turn back. In a last-ditch effort to save the refugees, Paul speaks to the Rwandan Army General, Augustin Bizimungu (Fana Mokoena) and when the bribes no longer work, he blackmails him with threats of being tried as a war criminal. The family and the hotel refugees finally leave the besieged hotel in a UN convoy, and they travel through retreating masses of refugees and militia to reach safety behind Tutsi rebel lines

Whats FEMA up to these days?

Q. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) along with other government institutions are currently conducting an 8-day anti-terror and disaster exercise from May 1st through May 8th called National Level Exercise 2-08 in the United States. We recently covered this exercise in great detail using press releases from FEMA and U.S. Northern Command as source material. We also raised the prospect of the government using this exercise as cover for a potential false flag terror attack. Considering the historical precedent of the government running drills on the day of the 9/11 attacks as cover for the actual operation, this 8-day long anti-terror and disaster exercise sparked some concern. According to the press releases from both FEMA and U.S. Northern Command, drills are slated to take place in Oregon, Washington State and in the Washington DC or mid-Atlantic area. With this in mind, it is incredibly strange to see reports from the Des Moines Register and the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier indicating that a secretive FEMA exercise is taking place in Waterloo, Iowa. According to these reports, the federal government has leased out the entire National Cattle Congress fairgrounds until May 25th for an exercise. Early reports indicate that a large number of mobile home-size trailers and generators have been moved on to the residence and that both FEMA and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are involved in this exercise. Considering the reported involvement of FEMA and ICE, the trailers and generators being moved in, as well as the secrecy around this particular exercise, this has all the hallmarks of a FEMA camp drill. The purpose of ICE being involved appears to be to round up illegal aliens so they can test the efficiencies of their processing procedures.

Reports of the National Cattle Congress fairgrounds being leased out until May 25th by the federal government first appeared in the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier's report. According to their report, both large mobile home-size trailers and generators have appeared on the site. In addition, one of the board members of the National Cattle Congress stated that it was his understanding that FEMA was involved. An employee of ICE was also on site indicating that they must have some sort of involvement in what is happening.

The following blurb is taken from the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier's report.

Normal operations on the National Cattle Congress fairgrounds have been suspended for most of May as the federal government has leased out virtually the entire facility for a training exercise, NCC general manager Doug Miller said Saturday.

Miller said he could release few details. But activity on the NCC fairgrounds was apparent Saturday, as contractors installed massive generators adjacent to many buildings on the NCC fairgrounds and windows of many of the buildings were covered up, blocking views of any work going on inside. A number of large mobile home-size trailers also have taken up residence on the site in the past several weeks.

Miller said the federal government is leasing the fairgrounds through May 25 under an agreement approved by the NCC board. He and others close to NCC said no entity has leased out the entire fairgrounds for that long a period.

He said it is his understanding that access to the NCC fairgrounds will be restricted beginning Monday, except for next weekend's Cedar Falls High School prom at Electric Park Ballroom.

Miller said he has primarily been dealing with the U.S. General Services Administration on the arrangements, and that his physical facilities staff have been cooperating with federal officials on logistics and setup for the exercise.

Miller said that, other than GSA, he could not identify which agencies are involved in the exercise. But an individual on site Saturday who identified himself as an employee of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement referred inquiries to ICE officials in Minneapolis, who could not immediately be reached Saturday.

Miller also was referring inquiries to federal officials in Cedar Rapids, and NCC board member Tunis Den Hartog said it was his understanding the Federal Emergency Management Agency was involved.

The secrecy around this drill and the lack of any formal press release or announcement by the federal government on what is happening is incredibly disturbing. In fact, an ICE spokesman declined to comment on the drill and a news blackout has been imposed at the National Cattle Congress fairgrounds where all of this activity is taking place.

The following comes from the Des Moines Register's report.

Federal officials have imposed a news blackout at the National Cattle Congress fairgrounds in Waterloo, where they have leased almost the entire property through May 25.

Tim Counts, a Midwest spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE, declined to say Monday whether an immigration raid is pending that would use the fairgrounds as a detention center.

"ICE never talks about our investigative activity or possible future enforcement actions," Counts said. "Regarding the exercise in Waterloo, there is currently no publicly releasable information about that, so we aren't releasing any."

He declined to say whether the "exercise" involves training or an immigration enforcement operation.

"We expect that at some point there will be additional information available, but I can't speculate at what point that might be," Counts said.

The fact that officials from the federal government are being very secretive about whatâs happening here indicates that they are doing something they know people arenât going to like. Even the state Governor has been left in the dark about whatâs happening.

Below is another blurb from the Des Moines Register's report.

Representatives of Gov. Chet Culver and U.S. Sens. Tom Harkin and Charles Grassley said they had no information about what was happening at the Cattle Congress fairgrounds.

At Grassley's request, his staff called ICE officials on Monday.

"During the call, the ICE officials would neither confirm nor deny anything to Senator Grassley's staff," said Beth Pellett Levine, a Grassley aide.

The apparent involvement of FEMA and ICE indicate that the purpose of this exercise is to test their FEMA camp deployment apparatus using the round up of illegal aliens as a test case. Although there is no way of confirming that this is 100% the case, if there are round-ups of illegal aliens in this general area during the next few weeks, it will be pretty obvious at that point.

Regardless of the goals or aims of this drill, there is no questioning the fact that the federal government does not want to stop illegal immigration. The federal government is encouraging this problem so they can dissolve the borders between the three countries and form a North American Union between Canada, Mexico and the United States. With all of the hysteria surrounding the phony war on terror, it is ridiculous that the border has not been sealed which shows that the open border policy with Mexico is supported by the Bush administration. Since the vast majority of Americans want something done about the illegal alien problem, they will think that this is a great thing, but what they fail to realize is that these camps are not really for illegal aliens, they are for the average American.

Plans for government run concentration camps are well documented from Rex 84, the Armyâs Civilian Inmate Labor Program and the KBR built detention facilities. This looks like a continuation of this concentration camp agenda and considering that the government has refused to take real action to stop the illegal alien problem, why would they want to build a FEMA camp in the middle of Iowa to run a drill? The answer is simple, they are going to use the excuse of the illegal alien problem to setup the FEMA camp infrastructure which will be used to house the average Americans who protest what this corrupt and out of control government has been doing.

It is incredibly suspicious that the federal government would not openly announce this exercise and even go out of their way to ensure a media blackout of their activities. There is little doubt that this is part of their agenda to setup a large scale FEMA camp apparatus in order to house large quantities of American citizens. The Nazis used concentration camps to house and eventually exterminate the Jews and it is frightening to see that a similar infrastructure is now being setup in America.

Answer
Since 9/11, and seemingly without the notice of most Americans, the federal government has assumed the authority to institute martial law, arrest a wide swath of dissidents (citizen and noncitizen alike), and detain people without legal or constitutional recourse in the event of "an emergency influx of immigrants in the U.S., or to support the rapid development of new programs."

Beginning in 1999, the government has entered into a series of single-bid contracts with Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg, Brown and Root (KBR) to build detention camps at undisclosed locations within the United States. The government has also contracted with several companies to build thousands of railcars, some reportedly equipped with shackles, ostensibly to transport detainees.

According to diplomat and author Peter Dale Scott, the KBR contract is part of a Homeland Security plan titled ENDGAME, which sets as its goal the removal of "all removable aliens" and "potential terrorists."

Fraud-busters such as Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Los Angeles, have complained about these contracts, saying that more taxpayer dollars should not go to taxpayer-gouging Halliburton. But the real question is: What kind of "new programs" require the construction and refurbishment of detention facilities in nearly every state of the union with the capacity to house perhaps millions of people?

Sect. 1042 of the 2007 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), "Use of the Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies," gives the executive the power to invoke martial law. For the first time in more than a century, the president is now authorized to use the military in response to "a natural disaster, a disease outbreak, a terrorist attack or any other condition in which the President determines that domestic violence has occurred to the extent that state officials cannot maintain public order."

The Military Commissions Act of 2006, rammed through Congress just before the 2006 midterm elections, allows for the indefinite imprisonment of anyone who donates money to a charity that turns up on a list of "terrorist" organizations, or who speaks out against the government's policies. The law calls for secret trials for citizens and noncitizens alike.

Also in 2007, the White House quietly issued National Security Presidential Directive 51 (NSPD-51), to ensure "continuity of government" in the event of what the document vaguely calls a "catastrophic emergency." Should the president determine that such an emergency has occurred, he and he alone is empowered to do whatever he deems necessary to ensure "continuity of government." This could include everything from canceling elections to suspending the Constitution to launching a nuclear attack. Congress has yet to hold a single hearing on NSPD-51.

U.S. Rep. Jane Harman, D-Venice (Los Angeles County) has come up with a new way to expand the domestic "war on terror." Her Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (HR1955), which passed the House by the lopsided vote of 404-6, would set up a commission to "examine and report upon the facts and causes" of so-called violent radicalism and extremist ideology, then make legislative recommendations on combatting it.

According to commentary in the Baltimore Sun, Rep. Harman and her colleagues from both sides of the aisle believe the country faces a native brand of terrorism, and needs a commission with sweeping investigative power to combat it.

A clue as to where Harman's commission might be aiming is the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, a law that labels those who "engage in sit-ins, civil disobedience, trespass, or any other crime in the name of animal rights" as terrorists. Other groups in the crosshairs could be anti-abortion protesters, anti-tax agitators, immigration activists, environmentalists, peace demonstrators, Second Amendment rights supporters ... the list goes on and on. According to author Naomi Wolf, the National Counterterrorism Center holds the names of roughly 775,000 "terror suspects" with the number increasing by 20,000 per month.

What could the government be contemplating that leads it to make contingency plans to detain without recourse millions of its own citizens?

The Constitution does not allow the executive to have unchecked power under any circumstances. The people must not allow the president to use the war on terrorism to rule by fear instead of by law.

Question about a Holland location or more accurately a building?

SyrianPrid

my sister is new to holland and her family. they dont have Identification cards and stuff like that so they cant pay for rent or something. So they were forced to go to some sort of camp or shelter. iwas told its very clean and they're are nice poeple their from allover the world. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT PLACE THAT MIGHT BE? OR WHAT THE PROGRAM IS CALLED?

Answer
It sounds like they have applied for asylum and are accepted into the processing center.

Likely they are send to Ter Apel, which is the center where most people are send after they arrive in the Netherlands, but if they have been processed already there are many more centers they might be by now.

I think so, because without identification they can not enter the country as tourist.

We are a large group of families (around 15 adults and 10 kids under 5) who are looking for somewhere to camp early September for my partners 40th. We want somewhere we can have fires (off the ground is fine) and they won't mind if we have large tents. Clean toilets and showers would be a bonus! Thanks.

what to bring on a camping trip?

Daniel

I am a police explorer and we are having a camping trip (4 days 3 nights). They are bringing the food and shelter, I have never gone camping before so i know very little of what to bring.
Oh I live in Arizona and there is going to be showers in walking distance.
1 more thing we are allowed to bring knifes and all that good stuff!

Answer
You have to ask, WHERE are you camping. Near a beach, deep in the forest trail, mountain, well managed accessible park?

WHAT are you doing? Is it a family event with children? Just adults but relaxed, or "real" camping?

CONDITIONS: Will you have water and electricity? Shower and toilet facilities? Check weather forecast.

Go to the state park website whichever state you are camping and read the reviews and research the details.

But for generalization: cover the essentials.
1. Lighting - Gas/propane/battery lantern, LED headlamps.
2. Sleeping pad/bag and pillow - $5 foam at wal-mart or self inflating pad for about $20-25. or an airbed for about $80. You need to protect your spine if you are not used to sleeping on the ground.
3. First Aid kit, insect repellent, sun screen, citronella candles.
4. Tools - knife, ax, mallet/hammer, small shovel, matches/lighter, multi-tool.
5. Shelter - Ropes, Nylon, bungees. Tarps - In case it rains, most tents are not water proof.
6. Clothing - Minimal essential clothing, they take up space quickly, but don't run out. Or just keep them in the car.
7. Water - Plenty of drinking water, you might have to run to a store after 2 days. More if you plan to do physical activities like sports. And get some Ice while you're at the store. Extra Ice is always good.
8. Coolers - Keep raw meats cold and separate from ready to eat food.
9. Cooking - Propane stoves or coal and fire wood. utensils. Don't forget the propane.
10. Hygiene - Your personal kit, Dish soap/sponges, trash bags.
11. Cash - You never know.
12. Toys - whatever constitute to you as a toy. Board games, cards, musical instruments, boom box, bike, hammock.

I gave you a list not of items but conditions and what to fill them with.
Basically, whatever you do inside, you're just doing it outside.
Coordinate with others and try to help each other.
Camping is about functioning as a community.

If food and cooking are covered, it should even be easier.
You will end up with:
1 large camping backpack - Basic essentials
1 medium cooler - Food/water
1 handheld lamp.

Be safe and Have Fun!

Any good camping spots for black ops in nazi zombies?

best camping place in kino der toten image

Anthony

specifically good for 2 players, at kino der toten. I found a good one in the main room where you turn the electricity on, if you don't turn the electricity on and stay at the end of the room, one person can get the window while the other can get them from a far distance. I can only survive about 15 or so rounds like this, anybody have any other spots? thanks!

Answer
Well me and my friends survived 26 rounds, the place where we camp is when you go outside in the ally, you open all the doors to the ally but not the door on top of the stairs ( you only open this one if you need to run in an emergency since there is a trap in the room) and the other door leading to the room you first start off in should remain closed as well until you need to open it.One person takes the window in the back while the other one shoots in the front in front of the stairs, the one watching the window should provide assistance in the event the front person needs it. Claymores should also be bought as a backup just in case. The place is also perfect because their is a spot in which the box spawns and silver backs (exploding zombies) don't go that way unless someone is coming back at the beginning of a round then they will follow you. We could have survived longer but our crawlers kept having seizures forcing us to start a round with really horrible guns.....

Oh and turn the electricity on to buy perks and use the teleporter because you need to use the pack-a-punch for sure in the 18+ as well as the perk, they are essential.

Which one should I get Call Of Dead the zombie map or Ascension the zombie map for xbox 360?

whosMinoh

I really want to know so I can have fun and not just play five kino der toten and doa.
(And maybe the WAW maps if you can bye them separately if you can please tell me)

Answer
i bought the the new map pack today and i only bought it for zombies. call of the dead is easily one or the best map. there are sooo many new things to do. the map is huge. loads of places to go. it is really challenging with george remero walking about following you so no camping. i would 100% go with the new map pack.

Would you like to visit Auschwitz or any other Nazi concentration camp one day?

kl camping place on Hobby 60 KL - Guide d'achat - Le Monde du Camping-Car
kl camping place image

Comrade My

BQ: If you have gone, what was it like?

Answer
I have been there and would urge anyone to go.

Be aware that you will see images of incredible horror. Photos of people who have been starved, beaten, worked near to death then gassed.

When you visit the original camp (Auschwitz 1) you will see rooms filled with human hair and the cloth that was made with it. Rooms filled with suitcases carrying the names of the poor unfortunates who will never collect them. Rooms full of glasses, shoes and, most poignantly, the belongings, toys and clothes of little children.
The worst of it is, this is not the true horror. At the end of the tour of Camp 1 you will be taken to the original morgue for the camp. You can skip this building if you wish but I urge you to go inside. This room, next to a small crematorium, was turned into one of the original gas chambers.
I think that it is a necessary evil to go inside to understand the place.

As you leave the crematorium you will see the gallows that was erected to hang the commandant of the camp.

I have been a researcher and historian of WW2 for 30 years and hoped to view Auschwitz with dispassionate eyes but I will admit that when I passed that gallows I fervently wished that it had hurt.

When you head for Auschwitz II (Birkenau) you enter into hell.
An area around the size of the small town I live in. Designed for the incarceration, torture and murder of human beings because they do not fit within the racial stereotype dictated by a lunatic and his cronies.

Approximately 1.1 million people died in this place. Romanies, Jehovah`s Witnesses, homosexuals, political prisoners of all races and, of course, in the greatest numbers, the Jews of Europe.

You will see a reconstruction of a barracks that was designed to hold 54 German army Horses. The German Authorities considered this a large enough area for, originally, 600 persons and later over a thousand.

You will walk alongside the railway track to the platform where thousands of people were unloaded by force of whip and fists to be paraded in front of qualified doctors who would decide who was fit enough to work or who should go direct to the gas chamber and crematorium.

From there you can walk to the destroyed remains of the gas chamber/crematorium complexes and walk behind them to the ash pits where the final remains were placed before being carted away for fertilising the surrounding fields.

All this time you will be walking on, wonderfully lush, black flood plain soil. This soil is flecked with what look like limestone deposits, it is not limestone. It is the small pieces of bone which went up the chimney unburnt. 65+ years on it is still there.

As we left the complex we passed the gallows again. I am afraid that, by this point, all my dispassion had gone away and, if I had seen the man standing on a stool with a rope about his neck, I would have kicked the stool away without a second thought.

I do hope I have not put you off visiting. Please go!!

Standard advice to anyone doing this trip.

Do three things.
Firstly. When you finish the day at Auschwitz go for a good meal, preferably in the Market Square in Krakow, and raise a glass of whatever you drink to the fact that the good guys won.

Secondly, When at KL Auschwitz take as many pictures as possible wherever you can. (there are signs in some places asking you not to take pictures out of respect) Use these and your own memories to tell as many people as possible about your visit to a place deserving of the name "Hell on Earth"

Lastly. (I put this in because my wife warns me to not do it as soon as she hears someone even vaguely allude to the possibility)
If you meet a Holocaust Denier, resist the urge to beat the living bejesus out of them. That war was fought to give them the right to their opinion no matter how wrong.
Arguing the facts and calling them an ******* is perfectly acceptable.

Ray

Any hauntings or strange occurences in the jewish concentration camps of WW2?

thinker.

if you've visited can you tell me what happened?

Answer
When I visited KL Auschwitz I did not hear ghosts or anything similar though you can feel a sadness about the place.

One thing I will tell you. No Birds flew over and there were no signs of burrowing animals around the place. unusual for that sort of area.

Ray.

Image life without electricity-reasearch project?

for a moment image your life without electricity, image the whole world in total darkness. How would you fell? And what it symbolize to you when it comes to viewing your country and environment? Could you live without such luxury, and do you think it is important to image a scenario such as this?

Answer
Can you imagine your life without electricity?

I don't have to imagine!

When I was a little boy, I lived in Jacksonville, Florida. Every hurricane season, we would lose power for a day or two at a time. We knew to be prepared with food, water, oil lamps and candles.

When I was about ten years old, my father retired from the USN. We moved to the family farm in West Virginia and, because we were far out into the countryside, power loss was frequent and often prolonged. We were even better prepared. Our water was pumped electrically, so we kept extra water for drinking, cooking and bathing. We used water from nearby streams to flush our toilet. Our deep freezer could keep food frozen for days, even without electricity. We even home-canned food (fruits, vegetables, meat and fish). In the winter, we had a wood stove to provide most of our heat and some gas space heaters. We also had a gas furnace, but it required electricity to blow air. Once, we survived an ice storm with temperatures far below freezing and no electricity for three days.

When I went to university in northern Maine, I had several friends who lived so far into the woods that they were off the electric grid completely. They were lucky to get phone service. All of them had alternative energy methods in place to live, in many cases, what most people would consider to be a fairly normal life. I even spent a lot of time camping (both in a tent and at a primative cabin) without electricity.

These days, I frequently visit the Philippines. There, brownouts and blackouts are the norm and nowhere is it more true than in the rural town where most of my in-laws live. Things are commonly done mechanically by human or animal power. Most houses have several different ways to cook and most people don't have a water heater, even if they do have "indoor plumbing". You might think it significantly reduces the quality of life to go without certain "electrical conveniences", but you might also be surprised how comfortable the alternatives are. When someday I build a house there, I will be sure to include alternative power which will make commerical electricity unnecessary.

I ask you to just think how much power is wasted in moving energy. Energy is wasted in transporting energy whether that energy being delivered is chemical, electrical or mechanical. I think people should consider greener ways to generate energy, conserve energy and stop wasting as much energy in transporting and converting energy. We're simply wasting too much!

I have reached the conclusion that, while commercial power makes my life easier in many ways, I don't really have to have it and intend not to depend upon it in the future.

what is virginia Beach like? ?

DianeDog

Is the North section of Virginia Beach nice? will be booking a hotel next week. Any details appreciated!

Answer
Virginia Beach happens to be the most populated city in Virginia. Of course, during the summer time, the hotel prices are pricy any where near the beach. There is a family camp ground close to the beach called Holiday Trav'l Park. I recommend that if you're into the outdoors. It's only 5 minutes from the beach. You can even rent bikes. If pitching a tent is not your thing, you can always stay in a cabin. They even have some with AC/HEAT and running water. It's a good value!

Where to live in New Zealand?

camping place auckland on Auckland Accommodation | Top 10 Best Places to Stay in Auckland New ...
camping place auckland image

Mike Kirby

So my friends and I are moving to New Zealand one year from now. Everything in going great as of now, but we're having one major problem of deciding where to live. We're looking for adventure. Trekking, Surfing, Mountain Climbing, Mountain Biking, stuff of that sort you know. We've been looking at the sources online but they all seem really vague when it comes to their lifestyle activities. I was posting this to see if someone from New Zealand or someone who has gone there would know the best place to experience all these. We were very interested in Northland when I read that it doesn't really experience a winter. Could someone help me out? Thanks!

Answer
sounds like to me you would enjoy the south island. Not sure if you know but NZ is made up of the north island and the south island. They both have adventure, trekking, mountain biking and climbing is more enjoyable in the south island as it has grandeur and spectacular scenery, and huge amounts of tracks and camping huts in the mountains. It is very similar to Canada and Alaska. Surfing is probably best done in the north of the north island (northland is a good region) The beaches in Auckland I hear are good. I would suggest living in Auckland so you have the convenience of the big city, but a drive away is not hard to do. You can also consider living in Christchurch in the south island. Its a largish city but is handy to all the south islands adventure centers like Queenstown etc. I highly recommend going to Queenstown, for the adventure, the Bay of Islands for the beautiful beaches, and Wellington for the cultural and culinary delights. In all seriousness you have to check out the entire country, there is sooo much to do there, you will never get bored

What is daily life like in New Zealand?

Sophia Mar

I am really interested in the idea of moving to New Zealand.I am wondering what daily life is like there?I am from Staten Island(New York City)so I am used to always having something to do.Will this be different in New Zealand? Will it be a big culture shock for me?Also, are American brands/items sold in New Zealand?

Answer
I immigrated to Auckland from the States so I have experience with the change in culture. I grew up in Boston and then lived a couple years in DC so I can compare city life in the US to city-life here. I never experienced any culture-shock and I don't know of any Americans who did. It seems to be tougher for the British immigrants I know to adjust.

Moving from most parts of NYC to NZ would be a major change, but Staten Island is not that different in density and population from Auckland. Auckland has 1.4 million people spread out over a large area. It has all the stuff you'd find in the US to do. There are malls everywhere, movie theatres, clubs and pubs, nice cafes and restaurants etc. On the surface it will seem just like the US. But here are the biggest changes you'll probably begin to notice within a a few weeks of living here:

Malls and other shops close very early, like 5 or 6PM, even on a Saturday. There are no family chain restaurants like Uno's, Bertucci's etc. that you find all over in the US. Restaurants are very expensive, in fact food in general is much more expensive than in the US and the portions will be half the size. People don't dress up unless it is a special occassion. It is perfectly acceptable to be barefoot in public places. If you arrive in winter you might think the kids you see barefoot at the supermarket or mall on a cold rainy day are poor; they aren't. They all have shoes, they just don't wear them. Kids are allowed to go barefoot to elementary school and adults regularly walk around shoeless as well and this is not seen as redneck or strange at all. At most cafes and less fancy restaurants you are expected to order and pay up front first. Service is very slow by US standards but no one rushes you to move on and free up the table. You do not tip anyone in NZ, not waiters, not taxis.

As far as things to do goes, that won't be an issue. Kiwis do go to bed early and shut the shops early but there are plenty of evening activities. I go to pub quizzes a couple nights a week. Drinking during the work-week is much more acceptable here. Most work-places have friday night drinks often right in the office. I'm a teacher and still can't believe our staffroom here has a fridge dedicated to booze for friday afternoons.

Everyone in NZ gets 4-weeks paid holiday by law, so there is much more holiday culture. There are lots of beach-side camp-grounds with rows of little cabins where families go for a week or two every summer. Most of the city shuts down from late December to start of Feb while everyone takes a vacation. It's all part of the more laid-back way of life.

If you move to a rural NZ town there would be some serious culture shock I'm sure, but no different to the shock you'd have moving to a small town in upstate NY. Wellington supposedly has more culture than other cities in NZ but the weather there is awful. Honestly it makes Seattle look good. It does have a real San Fran vibe to it but it is much smaller than what your used to.

Any recommendations on kids friendly camp grounds near Los Angeles?

camping place near los angeles on ... For Hiker, 21, Swept Away In San Gabriel River CBS Los Angeles
camping place near los angeles image

Marisol

Hello! This will be our 1st family camping trip. I have 2 girls one just turned 17mos, and the other is 7yrs old. So we are looking for kid friendly camp ground near Los Angeles, I'm hoping they have activities for them where hiking is also included, either way any ideas would be very helpful, we dont mind making some driving. Thank You in advance!!

Answer
The most kid-friendly campground around Los Angeles is Carpinteria State Beach. There are MANY families there, and we never have any problems finding playmates and activities for our youngest, who is now 10. In fact, we are going there this weekend.

There are nature programs, ranger programs (although some are limited by budget), a nature center, and campfire programs. However, the main activity that kids do is either playing on the beach with other kids, or riding bikes/scooters/skateboards. You can also walk into the nice little town there.

Our youngest is now 10, and her job since she was about 4 or 5 has been to make a friend. It's not hard. The place is overrun with kids. When she finds a friend, she tells us where she is via walkie-talkie. Yeah, it's that safe. We've met a lot of nice folks this way.

There's a cute little town you can walk through, which includes an old fashioned candy store and a Foster's Freeze. There are local favorites, like the Spot (burgers) or the Palms (cook your own steaks). If you've had a rough day, you can even have pizza delivered to your campsite. It's just that cool. Our oldes, now 27, is coming with us once again with her hubby, and she has many fond memories. My guess is that she'll start making some memories with her own family in a couple years.

But keep in mind, sites are already booked for the summer. Your best chance is to go to reserveamerica.com and check to see if there are any cancellations. Sites book 6 months in advance. I made reservations for this weekend back on November 1. Good luck!

What are some good vacation spots in California, Nevada, or Arizona?

Bubbles

I live near Los Angeles and don't want to travel that far. Are there any good vacation spots near Southern California, Nevada, or Arizona? I want to go sometime in August, so no places that need a reservation far in advance, like camping. I want to stay in a hotel and have it be family-friendly. Also, it has to be kinda cheap because we don't have a lot of money to spend Any suggestions?

Answer
In Arizona, I'd rent a houseboat on one of the big lakes and just cruise and loaf for a few days, dropping anchor here and there for the evening or just for a quick swim and a lunch...

I don't feel like I'm getting anything out of it.. I am feeling better, but that's because I've also been talking to one of my coworkers, and he's saying stuff that is actually making me feel better about myself. My therapist hasn't.

I've been telling my family that I think I'll be able to get better on my own, but they're telling me that that's what they thought when they were seeing a therapist, but they continued going and it eventually helped. They're saying it's too early to tell...

Is it too early to tell? Should I just stop going and try and fix this myself? It's really not that bad....

Answer
See self esteem/confidence, in section 38, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and consider volunteering, even from home, at first. It will also provide a solid basis in reality for the daily affirmations: "I am a good person, who is valued by my community, because I ..(insert activity here).." Section 47 also refers. On volunteering outside the home, you will come into contact with supportive people, and receive positive feedback for your efforts, which will be obviously appreciated: there are many options; one is sure to suit you. Practise one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you . Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at ezy-build also refer. "Even though I sometimes have low self esteem, I deeply and completely accept myself". ~~~
1. Build up your self-esteem. You must take an inventory. What do you want to improve or change about the way you interact with others? Try to make only one change at a time. Always check you progress before making another change.

2. Celebrate your journey, not your destination. Learn to always feel good about where you are now, and to exude self-confidence about anywhere you might find yourself tomorrow.

3. Set clear goals for yourself before every interaction. Know what you want. Think about how the people you will be meeting can help you reach those goals. Then decide how to approach each person accordingly. Apply this regularly and you will notice a difference.

4. Be proactive. Take the initiative. Be decisive. Let the other person know exactly how he or she can help you. Proactive people tent to be more successful in their career.

5. Treat each person you meet as if she or he is truly important. (You'll be amazed how this works.)

6. Give a firm handshake; look the other person straight in the eye. Practice both of these. Your handshake should be just right. Not too firm and not too loose. Train yourself to notice something you like or find attractive in the person.

7. Listen! Listen! Listen! Teach yourself to develop good listening skills. Learn a way to remember the other person's name. If in doubt simply ask for the name again 2 or 3 sentences into the conversation. [ AND MINE: USE THEIR NAME FOR A WHILE, OFTEN, AT FIRST, SO IT HAS A BETTER CHANCE OF MAKING THE TRANSITION FROM SHORT TERM, TO LONG TERM MEMORY. FOR EXAMPLE: "What sort of things are you interested in, Mordecai? I like archery, and train spotting, but am no longer combining the two." next: "I'm from Upper Volta, Mordecai, Where are you from, originally?" READ SECTION 41, AT EZY BUILD, FOR MORE MEMORY TIPS.]

8. Visibly respond to the other person. Smile, nod agreement, and address him or her by name. Apply all you listening skills to visibly respond. The body language is the most important part of a conversation. Practice, practice, practiceâ¦

9. Pay more attention to the other person than to yourself. Are you responding to what may be going on in his or her life? Don't filter out bad news. Put yourself in the other person's shoes. Be caring.

10. Stay "in the moment." Don't mentally cut off the other person. Don't reload while he or she is speaking. What this means is that you need to focus on the other person 100% during a conversation. Anything less is considered rude. ~~~ Here is an exercise that can help you. It is called "Act as If." When you are in a social situation, act as if you are confident, and outgoing. Talk more, smile at everyone, ask questions, speak in a normal or excited tone, not a meek tone. Watch some of your outgoing peers, and imitate the style of their social behavior.

Research shows that when you "act as if" continually, your image of yourself begins to conform to your new behavior. In this case, you will gain self-esteem and self-confidence. You will become more socially successful, and this will motivate you to continue your new social behavior until it becomes a habit. ~~~ 1. Like yourself

The first step in becoming more confident is to accept and like yourself. You should make a list of all your positive traits and strengths on a piece of paper or in your diary. By doing this, you are reminding yourself that you too have praise-worthy qualities like others. You will like yourself and feel confident about yourself after this.

2. Attend Seminars

It is good if you attend seminars where professional speakers offer you tips and guidance on gaining confidence. During the speech, you can even pick up tips on public speaking from the speakers by watching their body language and the way they project themselves.

3. Motivate yourself

Whether it is for an interview or for a presentation, tell yourself that you can do it. Motivate yourself each day and soon you will find your confidence level growing. Another good way for motivation is that after work or study each day you should make a list of at least four things that you did well for that day.

4. Overcome fears

Some people always have a fear that they can never be successful in anything they do. Such insecurity will be a disadvantage and would cause you to lack confidence in yourself and in everything you do in your life. So in order for you to get rid of this fear you have to remind yourself that if you havenât try something you can never say that you will fail in it. Be positive and try things without any fear or insecurity. For example at work your boss is asking you to head a team but you fear that you will make a mess out of it. Such a fear will prevent you from taking on that task at work. But if you were a confident person you wouldnât think twice about failing and would gladly take on that task. This shows that a lack of confidence could also affect your career.

5. Accept Failures

If you are always crying over the mistakes that you made in your life, you will never get anywhere. Always remember that past mistakes and failures cannot be reversed and whatâs done is done. Thus it is no use crying over spilt milk. A confident individual always looks past those failures in his life. After all, failures are just part and parcel of becoming successful. If you failed once you should take that failure as a learning lesson. Consider seeing someone else. THERAPISTS: Closely examine the http://1-800-therapist.com website, and use the locators, in section 1, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and phone book. Personally, I'd opt for a psychologist who believes in only recommending minimal necessary medication, if at all, because they don't issue prescriptions, so are considerably less likely to be involved with the rewards, and inducements offered by sales reps from "big pharma": the large drug companies, to psychiatrists (there are links to, or articles on how psychiatry has become corrupted by money from drug companies, and "how doctors are being manipulated", in section 1: worth reading!). It's important to not only feel comfortable with your therapist, but also to know about their qualifications, and the type of therapy used (read section 1). Some people are in therapy for many years, and pay a small fortune in fees, so recognise that therapists may have a vested interest in keeping their patients coming back. It pays the rent, and permits them to feel that they are fulfilling a useful function in life. For this reason, I believe that, unless there is a need for a specific type of therapy, such as Dialectical Behavio(u)ral Therapy, for Borderline Personality Disorder, or EMDR therapy, for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, it is a good idea to start out with a psychologist who uses Cognitive Behavio(u)ral Therapy, which often can accomplish all it is capable of, in 6 months, and to fix that time limit in the first session. In that way, the therapist knows that there is only a limited window of opportuntiy to do what they can, and there is no unconscious motivation to attempt to draw things out. If, at the end of that time, you believe you could benefit from a little more therapy, then you can extend it, but I'd advise the therapist a few weeks before the final session, in case they are considering taking on a new patient, leaving you "high, and dry" committed, and without options, except to find someone else. Learn to assess, and rate your therapist, after a while: sometimes it's better to move on, and find someone who you feel can help you more, but not if you've just reached an unpleasant part of the therapy, which part of you would rather avoid.

So I want to move to New Zealand... But will I like it?

raeanne271

Right so a little about me really I think would be required to help you help me agreed? I'm 19, I'm a girl, I love music, rock, emo, alternative yada yada, I love going to gigs, I love meeting new people, I love horses, I love adventures. I'm a happy go-lucky kinda kid. I come from a town thats not too busy but not too quiet, sort of Weston-Super-mare sort of busy. I'm looking at moving to Auckland New Zealand with my Dad who is a Citizen over there, I'm looking at it being a permanent thing obviously, I just want to know from anyone what the area is like, the people the horses, the horse trails the education, the jobs the music scene is like so yea help me if you can :)

Answer
Hello there! I am a New Zealander...but I will do my best to answer your question.
New Zealand has many different music styles as well as cultures. The people are friendly and talk to you like they have known you for years. Very down to earth, relaxed, kind, funny people. If you respect them for who they are then they will respect you. In NZ we don't force another persons thoughts on another...we respect them for who they are and what they believe in...but just accept them for who they are. In NZ you can be the true you...wear the style of clothes that you want...develop your style and taste...and everyone accepts you whatever shape and form you come in. Family and friends are the most important thing in most NZ peoples life.
But don't get surprised if you make random friends very fast....that's part of our charm hehehehe

New Zealand is a place where the lifestyle is more important then the job etc. We love the great outdoors, including extreme sports and hiking in forests etc. We don't have big cities like in overseas countries.

There is lots of area space in our front and backyards...even in the cities. And we care about the environment and maintaining a lifestyle where its normal to go hang out at a local park and enjoy the fresh air. I hope you like to swim....we have many rivers, lakes and beaches that will forever only a few minutes drive away for you to enjoy swimming in during spring and summer. Also in winter time we have natural hot springs for you to swim in too. NZ is the only country in the world that don't have snakes (good cos that is the animal that I am scared of the most hahahaha) and the NZ waters such as lakes, rivers and beaches are safe to swim in.

Horse riding is a BIG thing in NZ. Many wonderful career options with horse riding. As in becoming a jokey or even working in a horse riding training school. There are many events with horse riding around the year to improve your skills...which allows you to meet people your own age...develop friendships with people with the same interests as you or help with connections.

NZ is NOT the country to make money in....but the hours of work are better in NZ because the main focus is on Family and lifestyle then work.

Education is good...universities and other schooling is known for its high level qualifications from many countries around the world eg America, Canada, UK and Australia and Asia.

Music scene...think of the Unplugged version of music...lol and that's the style in NZ of all different music styles.
The concerts are only in the big cities (Auckland is the main one for most concerts to be in). But we do a mini version of woodstock here in NZ....3 days long...24 hours a day concerts of different worldwide known bands and NZ bands in a country air lifestyle. People sleep in tents and and experience it all. This type of concert happens once a year and is the biggest music event around....its called BIG DAY OUT.
The rest of the music events are at the normal sports ground music event type of thing.

If you are planning to come over....pack ya labeled clothing cos the label clothes are REALLY expensive here in NZ. (just another tip)

From Wikipedia see site below:
The film is based on true events and takes place in Alexandria, Virginia, in 1971, at recently desegregated T.C. Williams High School. Herman Boone (Denzel Washington) is hired as head coach for the school's football team, taking the place of head coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton). Yoast at first refuses Boone's offer of a position as assistant head coach, but then changes his mind. The black and white members of the football team clash in racially-motivated conflicts on a few occasions throughout their time at football camp. But after forceful coaxing and team building efforts by Coach Boone, eventually the team manages to achieve some form of unity, as well as success. The main conflict is taken to a personal level by the portrayal of the conflict between Gerry Bertier (Ryan Hurst) and Julius Campbell (Wood Harris), two players of equally outstanding athletic ability, but different ethnic backgrounds, who at first can't stand one another but eventually become sworn brothers (the turning point of their relationship becomes a focal point for the team in its racially divided ways giving way to true unity). Upon return to school, the team runs through its regular season competition undefeated while battling racial prejudice typical of the American South. The All Star player, Gerry Bertier, is in an automobile accident while celebrating one of the team's victories and is sent to hospital. While Bertier is unable to play in the final game due to his injuries (including paralysis), the team goes on to win the championship, and sets an example for the town. Later on Gerry dies from another car accident

Has Japan apologized for pearl harbor?

L

The U.S. has apologized for the atomic bombs on Japan and for the Japanese internment camps in the US during WWII, I'm wondering, has Japan apologized to the US for Pearl Harbor and the abusing and starving to death of American POW's? I'm also wandering if it has apologized to SE Asian nations for it's brutal abuse on them, and to China for countless invasions and deaths. I dont know, so that's why I'm asking. And if they haven't, then WTF is wrong with them???
Yes, the US apopogized for slavery in the 70's.
this is to city girl: after WWII, the US apopogized to Japan and asked if it could compensate it for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in compensation, the Japanese asked for American scientists to go and teach the japanese, so its actually US that gave them the technology that helped them become who they are today.
To YC: Actually, 62 million people died in WWII, principal culprits: JAPAN, GERMANY, the atom bomb killed just over 200,000, I think Japan killed WAY more people with it's armies, than the atom bombs did.

The following op-ed appeared in the San Jose Mercury News on Saturday, December 7, 1991, under the headline "Fifty years ago, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor: Many nations caused World War II â so who whould apologize to whom?" It was prompted by what I saw as a misguided effort to assess blame. Many Americans felt this anniversary was an appropriate time for Japan to issue a formal apology for what we saw as a dastardly sneak attack that plunged half the world into war. This led some Japanese, and some Americans as well, to call for America to apologize for what they saw as an unwarranted attack on the civilian populations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with weapons of mass destruction. Both sides had a point, but in my opinion, both sides also missed the point. Hence this article explaining my view.

Thoughts on the 50th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor

Martin E. Hellman

Many years ago when my daughters were small, the younger one asked the older, "In a civil war, the two sides are the same country. So which is the good one?" The older one thought a minute before the solution dawned on her, "The one that wins." She was too small to understand the full wisdom of her answer, but children have an uncanny knack for cutting to the core of truth.

The 50th anniversary of Pearl Harbor has been an occasion for assessing blame. Do the Japanese owe us an apology for the 2,400 Americans killed at Pearl Harbor? If so, do we owe them an apology for the 115,000 men, women and children killed at Hiroshima and Nagasaki? The general sentiment in this country seems to be that they owe us an apology, but we don't owe them one. That is normal, but a big mistake.

In the new era of global interdependence, every war is a civil war of brother fighting against brother to their mutual detriment. Now, as then, the winner in a civil war gets to write the history books and become the good guy. But also now, as then, the loser chafes under the unfair stigma and humiliation and waits his chance for revenge. It is no coincidence that Hitler had France's 1940 surrender take place in the same railway car that witnessed the signing of Germany's humiliating defeat in 1918.

In our quest for designation as righteous warrior against Japan (and Germany), for 50 years we have been setting up a similar rematch. The recent rise in virulent Japanese nationalism and militarism is an ominous sign that history may be about to repeat itself.
One of my colleagues, either crazy or prescient, thinks it will be a shooting war. But even "merely" an economic war will take a heavy toll on both sides. There are already signs that we Americans are paying a heavy price for enjoying what has traditionally been one of the fruits of victory â writing history to our benefit, thereby humiliating our opponent.

Admittedly, we have been kinder this time around than in earlier wars, but we are still far from honest and fair. On the surface, Germany and Japan are to blame for World War II. They were militaristic and warlike, and they attacked first. But, if we look deeper, we find sources of blame which we have minimized:

* France, Britain and the United States forced a humiliating defeat and impossible economic reparations on,Germany in 1918, even though it was no more responsible for starting World War I than many others.
* Both the Chinese Nationalists and Communists refused to recognize that some goals of the other side were reasonable. Instead, they fought a debilitating civil war that left a power vacuum in Manchuria that was filled by warlords and bandits. This gave the Japanese a basis for "sending the Marines to restore order" and protect Japanese business interests.
* The colonial powers subjugated much of Asia, allowing Japan the illusion that its "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" was Asians liberating Asians from Caucasian domination and racism. America of the 1930s was an openly racist nation, prone to an earlier form of Japan bashing.

This list could be extended and supplemented with equally long lists for Japan, Germany, Hungary, Russia and every other nation involved in the war.

So who should apologize to whom? Certainly, no nation should be humiliated into an apology. Forced apologies are hollow and short-lived, and no nation speaks with a single voice. Assessing blame for the last war only leads to the next.

Rather, let those among us who are secure enough to recognize that all humans are fallible come forward and apologize for their own mistakes. If enough of us find that nobility of spirit, just maybe there will be no next war for which to apologize.

How do I find a place with the things I enjoy?

camping place near dallas on Dallas Texas Hotel Holiday Inn Express and Suites West near Arlington ...

It's kind of hard for me to really ask my question in that thing so I'll explain. I'm not really into a lot of activities. I like technical theatre stuff such as lighting, sound, make up, costume, props. I prefer lighting and stage make up. I also enjoy writing. I want to find something to do that involves the things I love and other people. Like camps, programs, clubs. Something of that nature. Just something social I can do in my area. I live in Arlington Texas, so anything in the Dallas/Arlington/Fort Worth area would be good. Or if you know of a website that would help me find something. I should also add that I am 15. And I would like something I could do over the Summer or during the Fall. Thank you,

Answer
I think the best thing to do would be to first find a local theater production company. Maybe a youth theater group, community theater, or kids acting camp. Nothing serious, just something near by. To find these you could ask local community centers and theaters. Find a few and give them a call. Explain to them that you really enjoy working backstage with the technical aspects of theater. Ask them if they'd be willing to let you work backstage with the set, lighting, sound, etc. I do community theater and most of the people working backstage are parent volunteers. They work on building the set, changing scenes, helping with costumes and props, etc. Since it's around summer break, there are probably tons of production companies and camps, that would be more than happy to have you around. Just make a few calls and see what you can do! Good luck :)

Any state or national parks near DFW where I could plink?

Jon S.

I'm not talking NEAR near, maybe a couple hours drive or so. Perhaps a bit farther if it is a good place to camp or hike.

Answer
Nope but I can tell you that there is alot of private property around frisco/plano area. I perfer shooting indoor in dallas/plano because the costs are reasonable for what your getting. I used to shoot at garland public shooting range which is like $10 all day with plenty of rifle lanes, pistol, and some machines for skeet shooting. I would have loved to just plink, practice draws, and rapid fire but you need to find private land for that. I suggest craigslist or just try to meet people at ranges. Garland is really friendly but their ammo is god awful expensive.

When i was in my cousins the other night he told me that he didn't have to buy them, he said that theres a code on the book thats in the case and you can download it from that? Can you do that?

Answer
I am assuming you are talking about Face Off maps. They include 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. I am also assuming you are talking about the Elite Founder card. The Elite Founder cards do not work any more, you had to activate them by December 30th. However, you can still buy Premium Elite.

If you are a Premium Elite member, then you will gain all the Face Off maps for free. However, if you are not a Premium Elite member, you will get 2 free maps and 2 paid maps. There are 3 other maps that are, currently, exclusive to Premium Elite members.

Below is information on all the Face Off maps if you are interested.

There are 2 Face Off maps that are free, Aground and Erosion. Aground is the map with the ships, Erosion is the map with the big tower everyone camps in.

The other 2 Face Off maps are included in the Collection 2 DLC, which costs 1200MSP ($15). The Collection 2 DLC includes 2 Spec Ops missions, 3 regular maps, and 2 Face Off maps. The 2 Face Off maps are Getaway and Lookout. Getaway is a house with a pool where you can drown in. Lookout is a bunch of sandy "forts" where one fort has two turrets.

The 3 Face Off maps that are currently exclusive to Premium Elite members, are Vortex, U-Turn, and Intersection. Vortex takes place in a small farm. Intersection is set in Manhattan, at the intersection of Fulton Street and Schwarz Road, it includes a basketball court, a theater, pizza shop, art studio, etc. U-Turn is 2 roads in Afghanistan and has some dry patches and tall grass on the side .

Hope this helped, have fun!

How do i become a smarter player in Modern Warfare 3?

Mr SG8_Cha

I can never seem to rack up kills to get cool killstreaks, during every life i will always make 1 mistake whether it is moving at the wrong time to go straight into the path of my enemy or not being fast enough to react in 1 on 1s or just not having enough caution etc.

How can i stop making less mistakes and become a smarter and more confident player?
I know that i have to keep practicing, but practice what exactly?
Thanks =)

Answer
Ive been playing the cod series for quite a while now. MW3 is by far the most difficult. To get better you should always use claymores and camp. Make sure you have a gun you are comfortable and decent with. Place a claymoore in the nearest entrance and camp on the other entrance. I know it sounds stupid and ignorant but it is the best way to start off in that particular game. After you feel comfortable enough with your playing you should start moving around more. You just need time to get used to it, trust me, it aint easy.
