Q. I took a trip to the southwest in the summer. (grand canyon, monument valley, arches national park, vegas)- I highly recommend these places. To where have you been wanting to vacation?

- Badlands (South Dakota)
- Black Hills (bunch of stuff in there, including Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, pinnacles drive, etc.)
- Devils Tower (the "mountain" in Close Encounters of the Third Kind)
- Yellowstone (stay in one of the old rooms at the lodge at Old Faithful; go in summer to see the geysers at their best; go in winter to see the wildlife)
- Tetons National Park
- Bryce National Park
- Zion National Park
- Monument Valley
- Grand Canyon (as you said)

- Death Valley
- LA - optional :-)
- Drive up Highway 1 (take a couple of days and stop of at Hearst Castle, Carmel, etc. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant (well up some hillside) we stopped at and had lunch overlooking the Pacific - beautiful).

Most of that I saw on one unforgettable 3 week trip with my wife. We were moving from Columbus, OH, to San Jose, CA. The moving company packed up everything in their truck, we packed the camping gear, hiking boots and some clothes in the car and took 3 weeks winding our way across the US, stopping off and going on hikes. Spectacular! We didnât hit everything I listed on that trip but we did most of it. Just listing it out makes me want to jump in the car and do it again.
