best camping place in wisconsin image

Me and my wife are planning to drive up to Door County for a day or two, and I was wondering if you fine folk know of any places we should make sure to see. We like site seeing and good shopping of course with the misses :-) I don't mind going off the beaten path if there's something good. Thanks for your help!

- Make your way to Rock Island. It's hard to get to, and there's only camping, I think, but it's definitely a unique Wisconsin experience.

- Newport State Park is very pleasant, and easy to get to, yet out of the way. Good if you fancy a long walk along Lake Michigan without many people around. Accomodations nearby, though on the expensive side.
- Peninsula State Park is very popular and has it all. It's near the Fish Creek/Gibraltor area, so you can combine good accommodations, sightseeing and shopping if you just focus on this one area.

- Sturgeon Bay is the hub of Door County, a nice town with a lot of nice B and Bs. It's the best place in Door County for shopping, and near Potawatomi State Park, which is a pleasant get-away.

Are there any cheap campgrounds fifteen-thirty miles or so miles away from Wisconsin Dells that are more secluded and/or are on water? Thanks!

Well I dunno exactly where Wisconsin Dells is but in Somerset WI you can go to Apple River. There is a camp ground and everyone floats down river. Not really a place for kids though. You can bring alcohol down the river so usually on weekends it is young people partying while they go down.
