Can anyone recommend a good place to board my GSD in Tucson? I live about 100 miles from Tucson and have an appointment mid morning, tomorrow, Friday. I hesitate to leave a one year old German Shepherd alone in my house, for I believe she will be anxious in my absence (about 8 hours). I am new to this little town and don't know anyone well enough (nor does my dog) to ask someone to come and look in on her.

Answer
At Petsmart they have a place called Doggie Day Camp. It's a place where you can drop off your dog to have fun when you can't be there.

Here are the 2 locations I found in Tucson:
7727 E Broadway Blvd
Tucson, AZ 85710
520-290-0776

4374 N Oracle Rd
Tucson, AZ 85705
520-407-0146

There is also a Pethotel (Boarding) at Petsmart. I will leave it up to you to decide on Boarding. Here is the link for Store Locator, but note that if you don't check off one of the boxes when you search, then you can't guarantee that that Petsmart has Boarding, or Grooming, or whatever you need. (The check boxes are just below where you enter your location.)

For further information on the Doggie Day Camp, and Boarding, follow these links:

Hope that helps!!

What are some good places to visit in Grand Staircase Escalate in Utah?

Coming in from the East from the four corners. Thinking about chilling along lake powell. What is the best route into Grand Staircase Escalate and what are some good camp grounds, driving and hiking trials. The more interesting geology the better!

Answer
Look into Vermillion Cliffs National Monument as well!
There are a few nice spots along 89 between Page and Kanab. Depending on how much time you have and if you can get a permit, Coyote Buttes, the Wave, Buckskin Gulch, Paria Canyon, Wire Pass canyon, and the Toadstools are among the many short to long hikes available. I believe there is also horseback riding nearby. A short drive south of the Wire Pass is the State Line campground. Last I checked it was free.
Johnson Canyon Road will give access to a whole bunch more places north of 89.

And definitely stop here: http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/fo/grand_staircase-escalante/Recreation/visitor_centers/Paria_Contact_Station.html

They will have loads and loads of information, ideas and road/trail conditions. Everyone I spoke to there was wonderful!!

You will certainly have a magnificent trip I'm sure!! ENJOY! Drive carefully! Be safe!
