Camping in NJ HELP????

I want to camp in NJ. TENT! No RV or something.

Drive there... plan to camp out in tents with friends and bike or hopefully bike or drive to the shore/beach during the day.

Would prefer somewhere VERY CLOSE to Rumson... if n/a then whatever the best options are!

I know nothing about NJ & traveling from the midwest to get the nature/wildernessey aspect but the beach aspect too and would like to do an event over a long weekend.. i'm not sure what.

Any ideas?

I don't know of any campground in or near Rumson and I'm glad you didn't say you wanted to camp on the beach because in Jersey camping on any beach is out.
There are some campgrounds in south Jersey NEAR the beach from these you can take the car with the bike inside and bike to Mays landing, and just pedal around town which has a main street closed to cars. It's a nice quaint place with a great beach.
Try... Seaside Campground, Big Timber lake CG, Oceanview CG..they all have web sites for you to look at.
Make your reservations ASAP.a lot of places are already booked
If you check out Cape May or these campgrounds it will give a list of things going on

South Jersey Camping?

i'm looking for a place to set up a tent, fish and camp in south jersey. i dont like campgrounds that offer pools and bathrooms. i want to ruff it. also has to be pet friendly. any suggestions?

Wharton State Park - offers different levels of camping accomodations. I think it might suit your needs. Take a look at the web site above. Have a safe trip.
